This weekend has been really relaxing, even though I found out an investment-bank-kind-of won't give me any loan to set up my own gallery and even though I'm facing some pretty big questions about my future: how much will I load on studying at University (if I ever get in), how much on being an entrepreneur, what should I do to really make a living with P-pas and what are the other projects I'm getting involved with. I should study for matriculation examination, move completely back in Helsinki (it's hard to be a part-time-habitant), sleep and work as much as I can. Now I'm just chilling. It feels great for once.

So, I decided to sketch some stupid prints I've been obsessed with quite a while. Here are some versions of them so you can get the basic idea:

I created a new photo album in Facebook about the prints I'm working on so that anyone can comment on them. That's how I get the best perspective to whatever I'm doing: asking other people's opinion. P-pas is certainly not all about me and my style. How self-centered would that be?

Despite the few negative things (such as not getting the financial support I would need to realise my dreams (but well, I'll figure some new, more economical dreams) I'm glad and very zen.

I spent my Christmas in the Canary Islands playing golf and relaxing in the spa (how ecological..) with my family. It was quality time from the arrival to the departure, even though I was very sceptical about the destination (tourists, tourists, tourists!). The nature and the beautiful ocean proved my prejudices wrong, even though the amount of German tourists was enormous.

I was also trying to find my feminin side. Could've done worse!

The one-week-holiday gave me enough time to let go of all the stress and pressures, but it took almost the same time to really recover after the holiday. I was feeling exhausted around the New Year, but finally I've found the grip to this thing, and P-pas is on its way to become more and more professional and cool label. My energy level rose after this dubstep party I organized with Suburban Basher -team last weekend. I had fun and the experience was taughtful, but I couldn't be happier to be able to concentrate 100% on P-pas now. Well, probably I should do some studying before the matriculation examinations also. Still, mentally I'm more into this thing than ever. I think I get what's important and what's not, what works and what doesn't. It just takes a bit time to update everything and make P-pas the best I can.

I had some samples in sale, for exemple this gorgeous bamboo T-shirt. It's designed by two graffiti-artists, and I might have never seen anything as cool as the shirt collection, Department Series, that these two are realising. Boo yaa'll!

A lot has been going on lately, but I finally have the time to post in english. I spent about 20 hours in a bar last weekend - quite an achievement, isn't it? There was a design christmas market that P-pas attended amongst many, many other great labels and designers. After having spent this much time in a place with no fresh air, I was feeling hangover-ish still on monday. Brain damage and tiredeness are typical symptoms of partying too much, but clearly you can experience those feelings for other reasons aswell.

I released couple of new Stay Tuned -shirts about a week ago. There are loads of new stuff coming up in a few weeks, maybe even during this week. On the beginning of 2010 will there anyhow be time for big updates in the webstore. Many awesome collections are on their way to the store, both jewels and clothes. I'm also trying to figure out what to do with the Get Decorated -category - maybe a public exposition, when these two collections I'm dying to publish will arrive. Other is photographed by a young, rebellious indie living in Helsinki city, other by an adventorous young women from Stockholm. Really tallented, both of them. Ah!

How can I have forgotten P-pas' english blog for over one week?! I've been updating the finnish one every second day, but for some reason I've never had the time to do the same here. But has there really been anything that interesting going on lately? I tell, you judge.

I made brownies.

I made jewels.

I preXmas-partied a little with my model Heidi and other girlfriends!

And today I decided to tidy my messy room up. I also got a little wild and broke a frame that belonged to Pedestrian. Darn! It actually kind of exploded because I ironed a shirt on it. How stupid can a blonde be?

To get over my clumsyness, I designed some new clothes. I came up with this "Be square" -idea! You know when every invitation says Be there or be square? Well, I decided that it's OK to be square. In this case the letter B has fallen to its tummy and square has turned to a cube. I had my own problems realising these prints, but I'm happy even though they are not perfect (you can find some nice dog hair under the print layer etc.. ;) - neither am I.

Harder better faster -- better

I'm attending to an art course dealing with human and real models. It's all very new to me, because I'm no artist. I'm anyways interested in this project - I rarely participate in anything this.. artistic. Of course I work with P-pas prints and outlook and stuff, but this kind of a more traditional art has been out of my league. I once tried to draw, it was year ago, but I couldn't find that my thing that would have kept me expressing myself. Maybe I'll get excited and continue sketching and designing.

I'd like to adopt a more graphic style when it comes to drawing. It's easy to work with pencils and pencil shading, but plain lines are more challenging. I fancy pop-art and minimalism, so I'm going to turn these two pictures above into pop-arty drawings à la style below. It's easy to manipulate photos in the computer, but we'll see if I manage to get some coolness done with my bare hands and black marker pens.

I usually don't play with my photos this much. There's just been something really temptating with pastels and fresh colours. Anyways I always wear black, white and grey. Occasionally brown, too. How boring (or normal..) can a design-entrepreneur look?

I made some food yesterday, because I had promised my mom and grand-mother to do that. About six hours before the dinner I started to think about the menu. I don't do fast food or other simple shiet when it comes to real dinner, so after a while of thinking I came up with Italian foods like these:

Starter

Parma ham and cantaloupe

figs, crostinis, honey-almond-brie

coil-salt,

a bit of truffle oil

Main course

risotto in white wine

mushrooms,

Mm-yeah. It was okay.

Tomorrow I'm going to be interviewed on a local newspaper, which is great. I might get to Finland's biggest newspaper aswell, but it's still uncertain. But what is certain, P-pas will be seen on a popular Finnish women's magazine (free advertising space, niiice! - even though it's just a small-ish note) in a few weeks.

The horror dawg

I didn't work much yesterday. The main reason was my mental coma, but an otrher factror also affected me: my hunnybunny Toto, who had a small surprise under his bandana scarf. The dog was wearing the scarf to cover two operation cuts from the day before yesterday (Toto had two sebaceous glands removed from the neck area), but it turned out the Bandana didn't protect them too well. When I had a look under the scarf, an unpleasant suprise hit me.

The 15-cm-long seaming had partly teared so that the freshly-stitched skin opened up nicely. I told myself not to take it too seriously, because the cut hap opened only 2-3 cm. I just shivered a bit and tried to fix the damage. Bandaid-coverage seemed like a good idea, but when Toto decided to scratch the itchy cut on the back of his neck, I had to face the the most unpleasant surprise ever.

The teared cut had doubled its size. There was a wide, bright pink hole on the neck, which caused a slight panic among me and my mother. I screamed and laughed (in shock) and almost cried and ran around the house and tried to figure out what to do with the monster dog from hell. Toto really looked like a killer dog from a B-class horror movie. He shook his head, which only made the open cut look worse and more.. wide.
Thank God we got to the vet nearly immediately. It was 9 PM when all of this happened, so reaching an available veterinarian wasn't the easiest task on Earth. But luckily Toto was tacked and closed up in only 30 minutes from the big horror scenario. No great damage caused - aside the traumatising effect on me and my mom.

Besides this drama, I have some exciting P-pas news: I decided to let the Vintage market go, because more is less and P-pas is better off without second hand. I do use second hand and other recycled materials on Stay Tuned -clothes anyway!

Inspirations

As every person, every object has its history. In this case every one of these pieces have an interesting story to tell, because they belonged to my artistic grand parents. Now it's time for them to find new home, because both of my grand parents have passed away. It's a shame I didn't get to know then too well, it would have been interesting to talk about ethetics, art life (the circles are very small in Finland so almost everyone knows everyone) and.. just about whatever. They would have had amazing stories to share, but it's too late now.

I don't feel like I've followed the footsteps of my family. Of course I'm related to normal people aswell, but there are many persons working with art or design. I'd like to be as talented as my cousins (other is magazine photographer, other a graphic designer who's worked for Marimekko, for example) or my grandmother, who was really dedicated to graphic drawing and painting.

Instead of being really productive on fine arts, I feel I'm more a.. visual person. I like to see, observe, visualize, but the executing isn't my thing. Or at least not as much as organizing and doing ten thing at the same time. I enjoy hussling and planning more than concentrating on one thing. I like the big picture.

Even though it might seem that P-pas is just a label among others, it's 100% about esthetics. Everything I and my partners do to make P-pas better and better could be described as art. Art of daydreaming (because I don't sleep at nights, ''ha ha''..), art of creating, art of carrying through. I could do a posting about how a print collection is born, but there's no brief versions to describe the process. It's about loads of planning about

a) themes

b) shapes

c) colours

d) materials

e) quantity

f) quality (which is always excellent, obviously)

and much more. It's exciting, frightening and inspiring. Exciting, because it feels wonderful to give talented designers a chance to show their abilities - there will be an amazing collection designed by Maria Niemi round New Year! Frightening, because as a 18-year-old student/entrepreneur I can't afford too many bad choices on things that could cost me a fortune. And inspiring, because everything P-pas does is so goddamn cool you can't not get exhilarated about all the ideas and visions and creativity.

I've finally done it! I'm ready to reveal my face - which is quite a logical choice. I should be regarded as a sort of fashionist-trendsetter because P-pas is a real label, so there's no reason for me to hide. This (business, life, style, lifestyle-blog) is my thing and I'm proud of it, goddamnit! Don't you agree that these clothes are great? Not weird, not tacky. Just chill, good looking garments. That's all you need to have a fresh, everlasting style. Of course there are many opinios about clothes, but I, for example, think that P-pas' men's XL-clothes are unbeatable as dresses!

Here's what I've worn during this weekend:

night out: white flood with black leggings and basic leather boots

I'm planning to launch a bunch of XL-size clothes for the next collection. Not only will there be big shirts, P-pas will sell customized dresses! You get the idea from these pictures, but P-pas offers it more chicly: loose clothes with feminine cut. Both in hoodies and tees. I'm so excited, because there's never enough "easy dresses" to wear. These one's are all about being easy! And stylish, naturally. I'm hoping to get the next Get Printed -collection out during this year, but it depends on P-pas' economical situation. So, let's all buy our clothes and jewels and Xmas presents from P-pas and wait for the next arrivals to come! Controversial, funny and fresh prints ahead.

These past few days have been so enjoyable! I feel like a parrot repeating this one statement again, again and again, only changing the word order and using some synonyms. But I truly adore everything that has even slightly something to do with P-pas, no matter if it's about tax issues or negociating about potential co-operation with interesting people. I learn new, constantly, which lifts my spirit even higher than it has been the day before.

Of course, besides the constant learning process, new experiences and media publicity have an effect on my enthousiasm. A lot. I've been interviewed, written about, some have heard my nasal voice on the radio.. I will be interviewed and P-pas will get to a magazine or two and it feels GREAT. It feel great that I have the chance to spread Pourquoi pas -attitude Finland-wide, and hopefully Europe-wide as soon as my (and your!) european fellows get to know P-pas better.

But what has made my past days so special is yesterday's P-pas photoshooting for Get Printed. I managed to get these two gorgeous classmates to do some posing in front of my Canon, and the result was beautiful. No thanks to me, but to them. Now Get Printed has "its proper faces", if you know what I mean. It was a pleasure to shoot these two who had no problems posing and looking good. In only one day I could capture every Get Printed -garment on photo and add them to the webstore. It might not sound like much, but try to do everything from the very start: make up, scene settings, the photographing itself, choosing the coolest pics, editing them, changing their size and finally adding them on the Internet. Time-taking but rewarding!

I've received some comments about P-pas' clothe sizes. Unfortunately nearly every women's shirt is really slim, so if you're size M, you should choose a L and so on. I regard myself as S and I prefer size M on bamboo-clothes (S looks fine but as I said, it is slim) and even L on other tees and tops. The L because my waist is quite.. large-ish.

There will be more big sizes on the next Get Printed -collection, but for now the you'll have to order men's shirts - which isn't a bad choise at all. Especially the bamboo-shirts look great and pretty slim on women! And in the future the most of the big sizes will mostly be men's models, because there aren't XL-sizes for women on the models P-pas uses. But ain't it so that men's shirts look great both on curvy and petite women?

Like a rollercoaster ride

Guys, if I told you everything that's happened in these few days, you wouldn't believe me! Not that there would be any lottery wins or stuff like that, but I've just been.. active. Not only with P-pas but socially and.. well, yeah, workaholically. Here are the most important details from the past week end and today.

I and a friend of mine (with whom I also have a small business - I'm a sort of double-entrepreneur) won this distinction of the best business consept during the exhibition. I was so touched I almost cried. When you've worked really hard for something, a simple thank you is enough to save your day. And when you're called in front of everyone to shake hands with bank directors and other professionals saying "you have potential", it's amazing. It gives you so much energy and belief in yourself. Even though the distinction wasn't given to P-pas but to this other label we've created, e-stil, I felt it was a prize for P-pas aswell.

Get printed found its way to the webstore! Check it out HERE! The photos might not be the best quality, but I'm throwing a photoshooting tomorrow and adding them here and there to give you the idea of how the clothes look on real people. I can tell they look fine on me! I love every one of these shirts but if I had to choose my favorite, it would be either the white flood or the black why not. The bamboo feels luxurious on skin and looks great! But the combed cotton shirts are comfortable and really stylish aswell, such as the dark grey why not!

Je m'aime / et quoi que tu dises je sais que / tu m'aimes aussi

Today was the first day of two-day-lasting education and future -exhibiton, where I'm presenting P-pas. I had the table full of clothes and jewellery, but not many had bought cash with them - end of the story. Better luck tomorrow, hopefully. I have loads of shirts that deserve to be worn and almost as much jewels that go to waste in the drawer! But the biggest waste is if the Get Printed -perfectnesses don't find their matches (meaning people to wear them).

Luckily P-pas sells to the entire EU-area. This means that you, my european friend, can do some serious Get Prined shopping (for you and only you or to someone to whom you'd like to give stylish quality for Xmas present, for example) in only a few days!

I was also shooted on the local news. I yelled at the microphone and made funny faces, but that's allright. Someone has to be the stupid looking, ain't it so?

Now I'm off to craft some geography-themed necklaces for tomorrow. Flags and stuff. I don't even like geography, I suck at it! But the colours and shapes are so nice looking..

"Take it easy", says my cockerspaniel Toto - who, in fact, tends to stress more than me. At the moment I have no energy to really stress about anything, even though it might hit me with a heavy hammer on the forehead some day soon. When I realise everything's going deeply wrong and I'm no good to anyone. Why do I have to be so comicly melodramatic when writing in english?

The story of how a jingle bell -necklace is born

Once upon a time.. or something.

In the beginning there's some random pieces that turn out to be very important in the big picture.

Then there's these other things, such as the jewel part itself (the tinker bells, whoa!) and its attachement rings.

After having a) finished the chain and b) collected all the material needed, the real work starts.

The bells are attached with special rings with a little help from jewel nippers.

And finally the 15-20 min work provides the artisan with a result like this:

Hot or not?

The photo isn't the best possible, sorry about that. I should've posed with some dramatic make-up on ang high heels stuffed in the picture (because high heels are so artistic), but for some reason I don't feel comfortable doing that kind of stuff. That's maybe because the half of my family knows about this blog... And no, we don't do posing together. But who knows, maybe I'll try something new for a change and post a self-taken picture of my face someday!

Jingle Bell Rock -jewel collection will be launched next weekend! Before that P-pas is attending the Futuuri2009 -exhibition next thursday-friday here in Hämeenlinna - who knows if there'll be any jingle bells left after the first day anyway!

My life as a perpeetum mobile

I promised you the whole story, but as I can't summarise anything properly, I'll concentrate on the visual side. So that you'd have a clue about what my life actually is, I'm going to tell a few basics about.. me. You're privileged, because I haven't, for example, written about my residential situation on my Finnish blog. At least not as precisely as on this one.

Kamppi (a commercial centre), Helsinki

- Studying at upper secondary school is (supposed to be) my main "job".

- I'm sort of trapped between two cities and two apartments: Hämeenlinna (100kms from Helsinki), where I study and do the most of my handcrafts, and Helsinki (the capital city of Finland), where I spend about every other weekend getting inspired and relaxed.

- Helsinki is the place I'm heading to as soon as I finish the school (which happens in February) and where I'll start my University studies and hopefully continue what I'm doing right now in a small business premises, and such and such and such - I have loads of plans I'm going to realise, but it would be too soon to manifest them yet.

MONDAY

After a 6-hour schoolday I got on a bus and ended up in Helsinki, where I supplied a jewel order and right after that had a rendez-vous with the nicest founder of a fresh eco-café (Sis. Deli) I've ever met! She gave me very good advice about being a coffee-shop owner and being an owner of a small business overall. The place looked lovely in the middle of the hectic city centre and I could really sense she was dedicated to what she's doing.

After the meeting I got a lift to my little studio, where I spent the rest of the night (from 7 P.M. to 11 P.M.) starring a document film about me and my career-choosing.

I had a meeting with a life insurance company representative at 8:30. We discussed everythinghing but life insurance stuff, and after chatting about 1½ hours I continued my journey to the eastern city centre, where the film crew was editing monday's material.

It turned out the shootings hadn't quite pulled off, so we had to do it all over again on tuesday. No biggies, because the crew was awesome and we had a productive day. We drove to Hämeenlinna, I was more relaxed and smily and we had fun.

Hopefully the why not -attitude shows on the document aswell. I'll post it here even though the most of you won't understand a word - I guess you're from other parts of the world than Finland, am I right? If not, please continue reading my blog HERE, because it's embarassing to know Finnish people witness my bad english!

That's it. About 36 hours of my life. I can't complain, it's great, such as almost everything I get to do. It's surprising how comfortable I feel being in an uncertain professional and economical situation, but somehow I feel at home. That's inspiring, and that's the way I like it.

I went, I came and I cold-sweatted in front of the camera. Extremely interesting meetings, document shootings and adventures in only 24 hrs! Effective and educational in many ways.

this is how glad and energetic a filmed person can look.. notice the time!

The whole story about my one-night-trip to Helsinki coming tomorrow. An inclusive entry full of photos introducing a real day of an entrepreneur, or how should I call myself. Even if I were going through the most hectic time of my life, I'm happy, happy - happy. I hope you're feeling the same way about your life (without the hecticness).

Two out of four

Get Printed is finally done, sent forwards and arriving to the webstore in two weeks!

Here's some more concrete demonstrations of the prints and how they will appear on the shirts. These two represent the more graphic side (simple colours and focus on the lines and shapes), the two others are richer on colors. The final look of the shirts is going to be much cooler than these examples made by me and Paint (again..), but at least you'll have a clue of what to expect.

I had a dilemma with this dreadlock-girl. First I wanted her to have something pink beside her head, some kind of aura, but at the last moment I decided to let the idea go. So, there won't be any pink horns-a-like or other stuff-o disturbing her - only the vinyls and witty self respect. The text says: "je m'aime / et quoi que tu dises je sais que / tu m'aimes aussi", which means: "I love me / and no matter what you say, I know / you love me too." You should all stick to this kind of an attitude!

That's all for now. There are about 30 Spit It Out -jewels waiting to be finished, so I should probably go and get some jewellery done! Before that, in a few minutes, actually, I get to design a small winter-collection of beanies, mittens and mufflers with a handcraft enthousiast. I'm interested to see with what kind of a consensus we'll end up.

PS! P-pas can be spotted at Futuuri2009-exhibition on 5.-6.11. (thu-fri) which takes place at the culture centre Verkatehdas in Hämeenlinna. The entrance is free, and there will be lectures and information about education, being an entrepreneur and all kinds of stuff about the future we youngs have ahead us. By the way, Pete Parkkonen (an Idols winner of.. last year?) is coming too ;)

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I had worked with this P-pas -print of my own, drawed lines and sized fonts and made sketches after sketches, when I came to realize the result was AWFUL. HORRIBLE. TERRIBLE!

a) the text was partly crooked
b) the text was partly sprawled
c) the text was mainly ugly

P-pas in a cardboard box (..?)

I feel such a question mark at the moment!

Probably because of the prolonged day at the printing hall (or how do you call it, the place where clothes get printed). I was supposed to stay there for an hour, but it took two and a half to negociate all the tiniest details and colour shades. Before that the shirt stock had to be checked, and the current situation specified Get Printed's shirt selection. Most of them are basic garments but their cut, fabric and colours coupled with fresh prints make fantastic results! Plus, the clothes are ethically and ecologially, prints locally made - quality ahead!

Here are the most common Get Printed shirts:

The Sounds puts it: "No one sleeps when I'm awake", but I could do my own version: "Everyone sleeps when I'm awake". Why is it so hard to stop fussying and just go - to - bed?

There's quite a lot going on with P-pas! Tomorrow (actually, today) a Style It Yourself shirt collection from Get Printed will be launched. On friday I'm having a meeting with a group of media students to discuss a document project we're having during the next four weeks. On saturday P-pas is doing a casual photo-shooting with a model to give the garments and jewels a more concrete face. On sunday the pics will be released on P-pas' blog! Besides all this there will be some everyday life stuff aswell, such as coocking, educating oneself on cultural matters and enjoying the free time from studying. With good company and some sparkling wine, I hope.

Pre-Xmas and panic

Aloha from autumn holidays! Instead of feelin' and chillin', P-pas is working hard and getting things done. Luckily there has been time for relaxing: I spent the weekend getting inspired by Helsinki and some of the funniest people on earth. Friends are definitely a great source of inspiration and joy in life, don't ever forget that.

Almost every Christmas bazaar table in Helsinki has been sold/rented out at least a half a year ago - when this baby called P-pas wasn't even born yet! In spite of being late and totally retarded anyway, I decided to grab the phone and try my best to get P-pas somewhere.

After a few "no" it came to mind: We Got Beef at Iso-Roobertinkatu in the pure centre of Helsinki's night life. Luckily the application for Christmas sales hasn't even started there yet, so P-pas has all the chances to end up in one of the most interesting places to shop for Xmas-presents and other fancy things. No need to wander around boring market places with pot stands and wool socks when you can head straight to Iso-Roba and enjoy the fresh, new design it has to offer.

I truly hope to see P-pas there on December!

Get Jeweled is also preparing for the holy Christmas. There's quite a few jingle bell earrings waiting to be launched, but we'll have to wait till the whole Jingle Bell Rock -collection is ready - get set - go. There will be necklaces and bracelets aswell - any Xmas party fanatic or Tinkerbell-alike should be able to find something suitable for their winter and holiday clothing.

That's all about Christmas for now! Let's enjoy the blues of autumn and every single detail in life that makes this all worth livig for. For P-pas, the fuel of life is new ideas and courage to realise them. If you only knew what's coming up...

Glory to the Doers! (pt. 2)

It's time to reveal more facts about P-pas' doers! So, who's exactly behind these P-pas posters and what should be expected from her in the future? The key words are Get Printed. Let the interview tell you more.

Name: Maria Niemi. For some reason "tiger" has come a nickname of mine, and I tend to use that name in my work

Age: I think I will never grow up

Hometown: I live in Hämeenlinna at the moment, but I hope I will move to Lahti or Helsinki next year. I dream of living abroad.

Three sources of inspiration: I've been inspired by stuff that most of the time is the opposite of beautiful. Bruises, scars, scratches etc. are very interesting. I'm also inspired by symmetry and simplicity. For example a circle is a very clear and beautiful shape. I don't know why, but I have this thing for old gentlemen. They inspire me year after year, and I get butterflies in my stomach everytime I meet one.

When I grow up I will be: a graphic designer or such, a journalist, an illustrator, or an unemployed artist

Often my work shows what I'm interested in at the moment. Usually they include some symbolism or maybe even a contention. Drawing and typography are my ways to interact with the world and the people around me. My work can be described as naive and childish, because I think it's the way to make things easier to approach. This can be seen for example in my t-shirt prints. The theme is violence and love (ah, what a cliché). The prints are quite simple and more cute than scary, even though they are about serious issues. It is important to talk about things, even if they are painful. That is why my work is what it is. I want to make people talk.

Winds of progress

P-pas has faced challenges and great opportunities in the past few days. Unfortunatly I can't tell anything precise before P-pas gets to know some facts and makes a few decisions. I can still give some hints: if everything goes as planned, P-pas is having its "real life" debut on November. The joy would last for two days, but it's still a great chance to let people really get to know P-pas, the items it sells and what's the most important: the pourquoi pas -attitude!

So, what's been up? First of all, designing and planning the future collections with other designers. Get Printed is going to be awesome: fresh, diverse, humorous and a little controversial. Comix has received new arrivals and Spit It Out is constantly spitting out new truths about life. There will be more photograph collections coming, and I'm already totally in love with two, both from young talented women (and no, neither one of them is me.)

Fall is always beautiful, and who knows if it will get even more stunning. The autumns colors are comforting, nostalgic and so inspiring. Back to Nature -collection combines laminated leaves with classical elements, and perfected with pretty stitches they create a pretty, personal and country-ish combination. The jewels are result of thorough handcraft, so it will take a while to be able to launch the whole collection. Why does man have only two hands and 24 hours in a day?

The coolest thing of all - for now - is P-pas posters! A graphical friend of mine (does it say someone's grapchical?) designed few posters for P-pas. They can be found in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna, and hopefully they will spread all over Finland and, eventually, Europe. Joy of photographs!

P-pas has temporarly concentrated on interior decoration instead of clothes and jewellery. Get Decorated has got started with different small collections or pairs of photographs.

Grey hair

The basic idea in these pieces of art/framed photographs/you name it is cool simplicity, interior decoration made easy and, obviously, esthetics. And it has to be said that these pieces are very affordable. Naturally P-pas can't compete against some of the cheapest markets, but as an independent and personal lifestyle-store the products are ment to be well priced quality.

So far the photos are from my camera, but there will be two different collections from two different, young female photographers in the near future. They'll tell more about their visions on P-pas blog when it becomes current.

Plus, there's more Stay Tuned -material, shirts AND panties, coming from different designers! As well as jewellery, for example a massive speech bubble screaming "GODDAMNIT!" and at least three more earrings for Comix just in couple of days. Yay!

Glory to the doers! (part 1)

The first designer I found to P-pas was this guy I accidentally bumped into on a Finnish art website. He had posted there a drawing of his: a washing machine flooding music waves. I had to get him to this team, and luckily this graphic design student agreed! So far, there are 2-3 designs from him to be expected for the Get Printed -collection coming to P-pas webstore in November. Hopefully our partnership will continue - which actually depends on you guys! There are lots of awesome prints coming up, but they can't all be launched at the same time for economical reasons. Voìla anyways some pictures to show what Mitro Leijona and his style is about at the moment.

Three most important inspiration sources: Loose, yet profound style is an inspiring all-time classic. A power failure on a dark autumn night, when candles set a special ambiance. The third one's the dusky 60's-70's jamaican ska-music that I've been listening from my record player pretty often nowadays.

"I try to utilise my continuously developing personal style and daring to trust in my own vision in my artwork and prints. These present, also the first, prints are affected by music, spiced up with organic lines and pleasing colours. From these elements I aim to construct a kind of fresh'n'playful ensemble. You can find vinyls, as they are second to none, and flooding wavelenghts in my designs."

Home not-so-clean home

The flight arrived to Finland about five hours ago, and I've been pottering around at home for couple of hours now. No partying nor sleeping - in fact, I should probably be cleaning my room up or exercising, because I've gained weight a few pounds too much. Not only the mirror but my sister noticed it. I thank Romanian food and my appetite..

My thoughs have been wandering in both practical details and grandiose future plannings. I'm more and more enthousiast and inpatient to release new collections and ideas, because the designer- and doer-group of P-pas' is very diverse and talented. More about the persons behind scenes coming during these weeks. Now some photos and notes from the journey.

I didn't experience any dramatical culture shock caused by the Romanian way of life (besides as to driving customs). I'm only happy to having been able to get there and spend a week in another culture with its highs and lows. I didn't know much about the people or the nation's history, so the trip was very educational. The most important thing to comprehend was that the Romanian beggars you can see on the streets of Helsinki are not the average citizens of Romania. The country does suffer from a great poverty, but as there are poors, there are wealthy people aswell. And good looking! Just like anywhere else.

One great thing to discover aswell was the nature. At first I thought there would be no hills at all - the Bucarest area is quite plain - but luckily I was proved wrong! The Carpathians were magnificent, such as the smaller hills. There were scenes from barren spruce woods to fairytale-like Alpine-view à la Sound of Music.

And animals, tons of animals: donkeys, horses, lambs, cows, chickens, ducks, cats and specially dogs! I mean, there really were a whole lotta homeless dogs. I still prefered the cats, like this cute kitty on the terrace of our pension in Bran, the "city of the Dracula", as the tourist guides say.

I could just skip eating and concentrate on working for now. A couple of unfinished jewellery collections are on their way to be.. well, finished, and print sketches are welling up from many pens. Can't wait to release the upcoming GET PRINTED -collection! Unfortunately the print clothes won't be available until November, but there's always plenty of more goods to shop. Which reminds me of the fact, that

the P-PAS WEBSTORE will be opened in only 5 days!

Yesterday I finally dared to sit down in front of my grandmothers sewing-machine and try if it still worked. Luckily it did! Here you go, some samples of STAY TUNED -collection:

Big part of tunings and stylings are made of inutile clothes or other textiles (for example I found the black and white -striped material in my grandmother's drawer). Greetings from Finland

Hello there everywhere!

(especially all you hot guys)

Voìla the opening entry of P-pas' english blog. What is P-pas, actually, and who the heck am I? Let me tell you, but beware - talented misspelling ahead!

I'm a Finnish 18-year-old student in upper secondary school (more precisely a candidate for the matriculation examination) who happened to get inspiration for her own firm. A fatal boost of enthousiasm pushed me forwards to really set up a shop, even though it isn't in real action yet. The webstore is having its grand opening the 1. October - till that P-pas will concentrate on making plans about designs (clothes, jewelery and accessories), different collections and potential future events. I'm going to spend a week in Romania during this month and I'm hopeful to find beautiful handcrafts and art to distribute. An Edward Cullen chillin' in Transilvania would be ok aswell.

So, I am young, enthousiastic and adventurous. That's why I'm pretty sure this is what I'm supposed to do with my life. With "this" I mean being owner of a business I feel strongly for. I have deep feelings for many kinds of beauty and esthetics. Sadly I'm not artistic and business-oriented enough to succeed just on my own, and that's why P-pas is all about the talent and creativity of other young doers and designers. Instead of offering one vision, P-pas will have plenty of outlooks and styles.
